Thursday 15th October – Windsurf *** The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny periods and warm.

Foil – 18.19 knot max, 17.01 knot ave., 11.60 knot hour, 15.50 knot mile, 43.27 km.,13.42 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 6.50m.

The forecast was so good for today with warm sunshine and a good 20 knot breeze from the SW and with high water at 3 I thought it would be a good chance to get back out onto the sea, with the temperatures set to drop there might not be many more chances this year? We had to take our cats Benny and Rue to the vets for a regular check at nine which went well, I then had a quick breakfast before heading down to Squiz Lane at The Manor end in Felixstowe taking Mag for her daily walk in the warm sunshine! The breeze at this point was fairly light so I took a few pics on my new mobile to send to the TV weather before setting up my foil board, I put my wetsuit on giving the breeze time to build but sadly it was still only 12/14 knots at best so I rigged my 6.5 just as Al Wizz was rigging his 7.5 to go out with his 130 lt. board. I had one run out and didn’t come close to get flying so returned to the beach as it wa shard work floundering about in quite a big sea! A winger came down and after a bit of debating he decided to set up using a 6m wing and we headed out again, the winger did get going, Al Wizz managed a few planning runs and I had a couple of long flying runs before the wind dropped light again! Al packed up as he had to go to work and I had a quick snack as another winger arrived and set-up a 5.5 wing and then as if by magic the wind picked up so I headed out for the third time and this time got flying straight off the beach and had some cracking runs up to two and a half miles out to sea which was now getting quite big and I had the best hour plus of the day enjoying the sunshine and big sea!
